Vintage 1940's

Elegant and beautiful are this set of 2 Vintage Fenton "Jack in The Pulpit" Cranberry Vases. They have the striped pattern with lines on the back exterior upper portion of both vases with the crimped or ruffled collar which makes them extra special. This is definitely Great Depression era USA hand blown glass. The larger vase is approximately 8" tall and 4 1/2 inches at the widest and the smaller one is 5 1/4" tall and 3 1/2" at it's widest. Both vases are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.

A little history about these pieces. Jack in the Pulpit Glass refers to the shape of the vase which has a collar pulled down and raised at the back. It is similar to the flower with the same name.

Jack in The Pulpit was the first name used by Louis C Tiffany to describe some of the beautiful vases in the 1900's, but similar vases were made back in England in the 1850's. The several European and English companies made this shape late in the 19th century but identified under different names. When they were made by Fenton they used the name Tulip Vases.
