Vintage 1930's-1940's
Rare and elegant Vintage Duncan & Miller Milk Glass Sandwich Pattern Pedestal Compote, a stunning example of American glassmaking. This large compote features the delicate lacy Sandwich pattern, beautifully highlighted by a gracefully ruffled rim and substantial pedestal base. Its impressive size and timeless design make it a striking centerpiece for display or entertaining.
Duncan & Miller traces its roots to 1866 when the company began as Ripley & Company. Through several name changes, it became Duncan & Miller in 1900 and earned a reputation for producing some of America's finest glassware. Milk glass production ended during World War II due to shortages of essential materials, and after the company closed in 1955, a fire destroyed the factory the following year, making surviving pieces increasingly desirable to collectors.
This beautiful compote measures approximately 11½" in diameter, 7½" tall, with a 5¼" diameter base. Its generous size makes it ideal as a centerpiece for fruit, seasonal décor, or as a stunning display piece on its own.
It is in mint vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or signs of wear. The crisp pattern, glossy milk glass finish, and beautifully sculpted ruffled edge make this an exceptional and highly collectible example of Duncan & Miller craftsmanship.
